Teacher workdays

Hooray for teacher workdays! The kids and I headed up to Blowing Rock for the day. The drive was beautiful with all the changing leaves.

Our first stop was Mystery Hill, a fun kid’s museum.

After picking out caramel apples at one of my favorite candy stops, we had a picnic lunch at the downtown park in Blowing Rock.

Unfortunately I forgot the kid’s jackets. They were shivering while we were eating. I really wanted to go on a hike, but decided to just come back another time. We blasted the heat in the car and they got to enjoy their apples. It was a fun day, despite the change in plans.

That evening our dear friends, the Sherrills came over for dinner and pumpkin carving. I think this is the 4th year we have done this together. Every year, Dave and Jeremy grump about having to carve the pumpkins!

General Conference

Pretty much every Sunday Drake asks me if it’s General Conference, a weekend long of hearing from church leaders. We stay at home and watch their addresses online. We have time for a big breakfast and get to stay in our jammies. Dave made beignets Saturday morning.

In between sessions, we went to a Chinese Lantern Festival. It was gorgeous when it got dark! The kids also got to watch a Kung Fu show, and got to learn some moves.

My baby

The baby girl enjoys her alone time with me. On days she isn’t at School, we go to storytime or a toddler fitness class at the gym. She had to be Cinderella one morning: why bother fighting about it?!

Her absolute favorite day of the week is Wednesday, when she gets to go to ballet!

I got to go on a field trip with her to Lewis Farms. They had 10 day old calves, which were the cutest!! The kids got to go through a corn maze, watch dogs herd sheep, and go on a hay ride.

Her speech keeps getting better and better. She is a trooper, going to 3 different therapy sessions a week.

Drakie

Dorothy and I went to Drake’s School to watch Drake during the Dance-a-Thon. I love to see how his face lights up when he sees me at school. He begs me to come have lunch with him too!

Drake has become a become football fan. He is really having a good time playing flag football, and of course loves to run the ball. He has scored a couple touchdowns this season!

We went out for a date after practice one night!

Stinkin Technology

I got all caught up on my blog, while I was waiting for Dorothy at OT. It took me about an hour, and then it didn’t upload or save the draft. It’s been hard for me to get the motivation to do it again, but here goes! I think I’m going to try and do smaller posts, so they can be easily redone if I have to.

Lincoln came home with the Student of the Month certificate from his class. I’m so proud of that sweet boy!

He helps me out so much at home. There was one afternoon Dorothy was having a hard time and not being nice to both boys. I couldn’t stop my dinner preparation to help out. Instead of making the situation worse, Lincoln said, “Come on Dorothy, sit on my lap and I’ll read you a book.” Just like that, she calmed down.
