Summer Time

Here's what we have been up this summer:

We went on an adventure to our local museum. There was a fantastic cowboy exhibit, that both boys enjoyed. Besides riding on the horse and pretending to be in jail, Lincoln's favorite part was a matching game. You had to match the animal to their footprint, their fur, and (here comes the favorite part) their poop. Oh, what a boy!

The boys and I have been to 2 different splash pads and ridden 2 different mini-trains. We met up with some of our friends from Winston Salem. Lincoln, Mason, and Lyla are good buddies.

Summer rainstorms are the best. We colored and played outside on our deck, while we watched a lovely rain storm.

On the way home from Georgia, Dave stopped in South Carolina, and bought sparklers and peaches. Lincoln thanked Dave for the "great surprise." I made a peach pie for Father's day with the juicy, SC peaches.

My Drake turned 1! Yikes, time keeps speeding up on me. We had a little party for him. Parties for 1 year olds are my favorite: they all have the same puzzled expressions when they are being sung to and when they try their cake. I love it!

Why is everybody singing to me?

What do I do with this?

Oh, I see, it's pretty yummy.

Yes, yes that's very yummy!

Can I have more please?

No? Ok, I'll just lick up every single bit.

After the cake we played outside with his presents (bubble machine from Dave and Rachel, water table from my mom and dad, and sand toys from us).

Lincoln and Drake are playing more with each other. Drake can get so aggressive. He will walk, yes WALK, over to Lincoln and try to take him down to the floor to wrestle. Lincoln is pretty good about letting him yank on his hair.

Drake loves stuffed animals. It doesn't matter which one, anyone can make him smile. He still only has 2 teeth, but he can down some meat with those 2. Like Lincoln, Drake enjoys listening to music and it can calm him down in the car. He has 3 signature dance moves: the arm shake, the hip thrust, and a full body shimmy. He calls for his dad first thing in the morning. When Dave was out of town one morning, Drake repeated his name straight for at least 5 minutes and banged on our bedroom door. I feel so blessed to be his mommy!
