Summer Fun--Oregon

It is always nice to visit Oregon! We love going downtown to the little shops and the farmer's market. We scored some delicious golden raspberries, and Grandma purchased balloon swords for the boys.

We were able to spend time with the Huntsman family. Again, Lincoln and Drake were in cousin heaven! We were able to see some of the boy's soccer games, swim in the river and Lincoln got to spend an entire afternoon by himself at their house.

Dave worked one of the weeks remotely, so we were able to spend over a week with Grandma and Papa. We also caught up with a couple of Dave's high school friends and Aunt Terri and Uncle Wes. On July 4th, we played at a park in the morning and did our own fireworks with the neighbor kids. When it got dark, we drove by the college to watch the big fireworks show. Dorothy did great!! Dave made a delicious strawberry rhubarb pie from the rhubarb in the backyard.

Lincoln made Dorothy a half-birthday cake, even though she did not get to eat any. She did eat all kinds of new baby foods on the trip; blueberries, bananas, and carrots.

Papa is the bomb dot com (I just learned that from one of my Young Women at church yesterday, just giving it a try.)! He rode with Drake here and let Lincoln ride by himself, because he rigged it, so it wouldn't go very fast. He also spent time building vehicles with the boys.

La Grande has "Crazy Days" downtown once a year. They have vintage cars parked in the street, stores have sales, and they have activities for kids. Drake and Lincoln scored some cotton candy. They ran through the fire truck's mist and jumped in a bounce house. Because it was so hot, we came home and made snow cones. Yep, there is a picture of Drake with more sugar in his mouth and yes, he is standing right over a sprinkler!

The boys swam in the hot tub (set at a mild temperature) every day. Now they are begging for us to have one! Lincoln got more brave putting his face under and swimming. Since we have been home and swimming, he has learned how to do somersaults, handstands, and has even jumped off the diving board by himself.

Grandma and Papa always bend backwards to make us comfortable. We always enjoy their company! Now at random times the boys will ask, "Will Grandma and Papa be there?" It had been one had less than 3 weeks when we flew back into NC. Oh how we miss and love all our friends and family on the opposite side of the country!!
