My Lincoln Boy

It seems I'm so emotional when it comes time for Lincoln's birthday. This year he is halfway to 18. Let me start my deep breathing...

This boy has such a huge heart. He is thoughtful, kind, and generous. His mind is so creative, and I love seeing all his drawings and comics, even though there is always paper out somewhere; seriously, so much paper!!

I wish he would be as kind to himself as he is to others. He puts a ton of pressure on himself to be perfect, get perfect grades, and get everything right the first time. When he doesn't, he is hard on himself. We are working on it, and I probably need to be better about telling how wonderful he is!

We threw a Super Mario party for him, at his request. I love how his invite list was long, and it even included girls. I'm telling you, this boy is friends with everyone!

He was so appreciative of his birthday gifts. He got goosebumps books, a boogie drawing board, the Captain Underpants movie, a snap circuit project kit, gift certificates, and lego.

I don't think I could love him anymore. My heart is full of gratitude for this boy!!

Since this is all about Lincoln, I'll throw in that he has now advanced to a Bear in Cub Scouts!!

BJJ

Dave has developed a love for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ever since I was pregnant with Drake. It took him a while to find a gym he liked once we lived in Charlotte. He has been back at it for almost 2 years, and this Monday, he was rewarded with a purple belt. It was so cute to see how excited he was! I even got a smile with teeth!!

The same night, Drake had his first training session. He loved it and can't wait to go back.

I'm so proud of these cute guys!!

All about D

It's all about Dorothy today! I seem to have the most pictures of her lately.

I think it's important to document the little things...combing hair, reading books. I love how she looks like she just belongs on her daddy's lap.

I remember being sooo excited about having a little girl, I thought about how I wanted a relationship like I have with my mom, and I thought about how fun it would be to buy dresses and bows. Later throughout the pregnancy, things would come to my mind and I would get even more excited. I remember thinking about ruffles on tights and smiling, and I remember squealing when I thought of my little girl in ballet!

This class of 3 year old girls was so precious it made me want to cry. They were good listeners and just the cutest things!!

Dorothy loved it and keeps asking when it's going to be ballet again. I'll take more pictures next week, and I'll take more pictures of my boys this week too!

School Time

Sara and I have been hosting a back-to-school party for 4 years. Each year, there are more kids, since the kids start meeting new friends. We are thinking we will need to have it at a park next year! One little boy asked his mom, "Why are we celebrating going back to school?" I didn't have a great answer for him!

So far everybody is having a great school year! I don't get a ton of information out of the boys, but I don't hear any complaints. They both have quite a few of their friends in their classes. Both teachers aren't huge on homework, which I love! Just good ol' reading and spelling words.

Dorothy started going to preschool 3 times a week. She acted shy going in, even though she was super excited to go. She also started speech therapy at Drake's school, so she thinks it's pretty cool to go to the big kid's school a couple times a week.

I miss the kids when they are gone, but I am anxious to get some projects done at the house...and take a shower by myself!
